Mission: Who we are and what we do

The Certified Application Counselor Program(CAC) at Mountain Projects serves the seven western most counties of North Carolina.(We’re proud to be a Waynesville-based non profit, serving the seven westernmost counties of North Carolina). We offer flexible appointment scheduling in Haywood, Jackson, Macon, Swain, Cherokee, Graham and Clay counties, to provide free, in-person, unbiased information about all health insurance options and about other healthcare resources in your community.

Mountain Projects’ CACs help prepare our clients’ eligibility applications, enroll in Health Care Marketplace coverage, and potentially qualify for credits that help lower their monthly premiums. 

We also provide outreach and education to raise awareness about Marketplace plans, and we refer consumers to other health resources and consumer assistance programs when necessary.

We provide year-round case management, and we’re dedicated to finding access to healthcare options for everyone.
